VISION STATEMENT

"Our vision is to be a church with
a passion for the Lord, with a vision to reach the lost -preaching the
Gospel to every person and making disciples of all nations; teaching
believers to be leaders, and mentoring members for service to the Lord.
Our vision will be facilitated as we commit to being a church of prayer,
worship, discipleship and evangelism."
MISSION STATEMENT
WE COMMIT OURSELVES
TO THE LORD JESUS CHRIST…IN PRAYER

I. We commit ourselves to
being a house of prayer for God’s word says “…for
mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people…”
Isaiah 56:7. We shall accomplish this goal through the following means:
a. The leadership shall
be examples to our congregation in our dedication to prayer and as
the Lord leads in fasting as well.
b. We shall teach and
preach the power of prayer and the necessity of praying through as
we tarry at the altar or in the personal prayer closet.
c. We shall
facilitate our congregation’s prayer life in having designated,
regular times of prayer.
1) The leadership shall have a time
of united prayer prior to each service.
2) We shall encourage extended times
of prayer around the altar prior to and after each service.
3) We shall have a weekly evening
meeting designated solely for prayer.
4) We shall have daily early Morning
Prayer at the church.
5) We shall call special prayer services
as the Lord directs.
6) We shall establish
a prayer chain for emergency prayer needs within the church.
d. We shall respond to
needs for prayer outside the church as the need arises.
II. WE COMMIT
OURSELVES TO THE LORD JESUS CHRIST…IN WORSHIP.
A. We commit ourselves to anointed
worship–to glorify God in Spirit and in truth through our unashamed
and extravagant love for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
B. We commit ourselves to be a church
that lives in, and for, the glory of God.
C. We commit ourselves to achieve these
goals through our submission to the Holy Spirit and by actively teaching
our members to seek and desire the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. We
will encourage our members to submit to the Holy Spirit in being used
in the Gifts of the Spirit so that, as we worship in the spirit, we
will also be edified by the Holy Spirit.
D. In our endeavor to
enable every believer to become a true worshipper, we will ask the Lord
to anoint, gifted worship leaders and we will equip them in every way
possible as they lead our congregation in authentically expressed, spiritually
alive worship to the Lord.
III. WE COMMIT OURSELVES TO THE
LORD JESUS CHRIST …IN DISCIPLESHIP.

A. We commit ourselves to personal
spiritual growth and discipleship. It is God's will for every believer
to mature in Christ-like character. Spiritual formation brings glory
to our Creator and Savior and validates our witness to the world.
We will use every effective means to spiritually develop members and
to prepare continuing generations for service.
B. We commit to provide,
through an anointed Christian education program, appropriate discipleship
for new converts and those who are already Christians, of all ages.
C. We commit ourselves to training
and equipping. We will diligently train new church leaders, as they
are provided by the Lord, to provide anointed leadership and ministry
in specific areas of the church. As the Lord blesses and grows our
church we shall seek to establish the following ministries:
IV. WE COMMIT
OURSELVES TO THE LORD JESUS CHRIST …IN EVANGELISM
A. We commit ourselves to a renewed
and anointed passion for evangelism.
B. We commit ourselves to teaching
our members that as Spirit filled believers; we are equipped, through
the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, to evangelize our community, nation
and world.
C. We commit ourselves to teach that
every member is responsible for reaching the lost for Christ.
D. We commit ourselves to ensure that
every ministry of our church is compelled by the lost nature of humanity.
We will reach out to the oppressed, wounded and lost withthe love
and compassion of God, being empowered by the Holy Spirit. With God's
help, we will reach every home and every culture in our neighborhood
and community with an anointed witness of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
We will use every
effective, biblical, outreach method the Holy Spirit gives us to bring
people to salvation and transformation through the love and lordship
of Jesus Christ.
E. We commit ourselves to establishing
new, Pentecostal Church of God churches and mission points throughout
the San Antonio area. We will ask the Lord to provide God-called pastors
for these churches. We will help these new churches as they grow into
effective, powerful, light-bearing churches of faith, which pierce
through the darkness of evil to reach their neighborhoods and the
city of San Antonio.
F. We commit ourselves to ministries
of compassion. As the Lord provides, we will touch the poor and the
suffering with the compassion of Christ and will demonstrate His love
in practical ways, providing food, clothing and medical care. Through
our church and missions points, we will minister to total human need,
both spiritual and
physical. We will proclaim God's unconditional love, His provision
of forgiveness and His pathway of acceptance to all who are broken
by sin—poor and rich alike—and urge them to receive and
follow Christ and seek the Baptism in the Holy Spirit.
G. We commit ourselves with unrelenting
passion to the great cause of worldwide missions.
a. In this cause, we pledge ourselves
to provide a tithe of our church income to Pentecostal Church of
God missions. Each year we will strive to substantially increase
our missions giving as the Lord provides.
b. We shall seek to extend the bonds
of partnership with our missionaries around the world through prayer
and financial support.
c. We shall teach and preach the
vital nature of missions in our church. This will ensure that our
members will be made aware of the need so that they may share in
our burden for the lost throughout our world. We shall achieve this
goal by the following means:
1) We shall have a monthly missions
emphasis which will serve to introduce church members to a specific
mission field and that field’s missionaries. This will be
facilitated by bulletin inserts, pre-service presentations (i.e.
PowerPoint or overhead projector presentations), as well as a
monthly missions service.
2) We shall have an annual missions
convention which will last 3 days. We shall invite stateside missionaries
to address our congregation. This will serve to instill a passion
and burden for missions at home and abroad.
In all that we endeavor to do…
H. We will remain faithful to sound biblical doctrine. We must "contend
earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints"
(Jude 3, NASB) and be ever mindful of "destructive heresies"
(II Peter 2:1, NASB). We shall boldly proclaim that, "The Scriptures,
both the Old and New Testaments, are verbally inspired of God and
are the revelation of God to man, the infallible, authoritative rule
of faith and conduct (2 Timothy 3:15-17; 1 Thessalonians 2:13; 2 Peter
1:21);" That we believe and shall preach that salvation through
Jesus Christ, divine healing, the second coming of Christ, and the
baptism in the Holy Spirit will be kept at the forefront of our commitment
as we adhere to the eternal Word of God.
I. We will actively seek, depend on
and yield to the working of the Holy Spirit. The world we live in
desperately needs to see Jesus in us through the fruit of the Spirit.
We will endeavor with every ounce of our strength to embrace and grow
in His gifts and graces. We will press in to manifest more of His
power. We reaffirm the baptism in the Holy Spirit to be a God-appointed
blessing, one that Jesus did not intend to be
optional. We are fully persuaded that it is God’s promise for
every believer to receive this wonderful gift so that the church may
be advanced with signs and wonders following. We call shall continually
call our congregation to a fresh baptism of divine power for service
and ministry. We will not allow the way we live to be characterized
by apathy, dryness or mere mental assent to doctrines–void of
power.
J. We will serve our Lord in a cooperative
spirit. We will do everything possible to work together in harmony
and not in competition. We will be a people united by God in the recognition
that there is "one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and
Father of all" (Eph 4:5-6a). We will lay aside self-serving promotion
and stand ready to encourage and support the ministry of others knowing
that we are laborers together with the Lord.
SUMMARY OF OUR
VISION & MISSION STATEMENTS
We humbly ask the Lord of the harvest
for a new boldness, a new vision, a new
passion and a renewed power that comes only from the Holy Spirit. Along
with the Early Church, we ask our Sovereign Lord to stretch out His
hand to heal and perform miraculous signs and wonders through the name
of Jesus (Acts 4:30).
With our whole hearts, we ask God to
fill us anew with the Holy Spirit and enable us to speak the Word of
God boldly (Acts 4:31b).
We are committed to making "disciples
of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the
Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything"
that Jesus Christ commanded (Matthew 28:19, 20a).
